Since my house is a THM house, and we buy a lot of healthy, fresh ingredients, I made shopping lists for Costco and Trader Joe's . Then I got a request for a Sam's Club shopping list for Trim Healthy Mama, and then another, and soon it was such a common question that I started wondering if I was missing out on something. I kept hearing that Sam's Club wasn't as good as Costco for fresh ingredients, but I wanted to check it out for myself. I found a great deal on a Sam's Club membership, and I bought it…just to provide this list for you. Actually, no, I'm totally kidding. I bought the membership because my Costco membership was expiring and it was too good of a deal to pass up. But I DID make the list,  and I thought I'd share it with you. 🙂

Overall, I do prefer Costco to Sam's Club, but Sam's Club does have some items that I really like (like no sugar added spaghetti sauce, stevia-sweetened Aqua Balls for the kids, and a few other things), although Sam's Club doesn't have as many organic items as Costco.

As I've said about each of these shopping lists: I don't buy ALL of these things every time we go, because that would break the budget! But I get at least a few of these from each category, and some staples (like the almond flour) last a LONG time. I know this list doesn't cover every THM item that Sam's Club carries, but this is what I like to buy (sans diapers, wipes, cleaning items, paper products, etc.).

If you're just getting started with THM, PLEASE don't feel like you HAVE to buy all of these items – this is a big list, and you don't need all of it! This is just to give you ideas. THM is a VERY affordable way of eating  – we eat very inexpensively with this $100 Weekly Meal Plan for a family of 6, and $7 Dinners Part 1 and $7 Dinners Part 2

Here is a picture of the Enlightened ice cream bars – these are on plan and SO GOOD! I was surprised to see them at Sam's Club because I've only found them at health food stores so far. This salted caramel flavor is my absolute favorite. Unfortunately, I have a baby that doesn't tolerate dairy so we are both skipping these for now, but I can't wait to have them again!

  1. Thank you so much for putting this list together. We have recently moved back to the USA from the UK and just purchased a Sam’s membership. This is very helpful! Thanks again!

  2. You’re welcome! I’m so glad this is helpful for you! I found a lot of good stuff at Sam’s Club.

    1. A coupon question! On the side of your site i have seen ads for Grocerycouponcart.com. It asks you to sign up to get coupons. Have you used it or trusted it? What are you best sites or pages online or even other resources to find coupons?

      1. I’m not sure – the ads are based on things you’ve searched for before on your computer, so everyone sees something different (I know it’s weird, but it’s how all ad companies work these days). I really only trust and use MoneySavingMom.com. The resources there are incredible!

    1. Not yet, I’m sorry! I don’t live anywhere near an Aldi, which is very sad, but I do plan to make the two hour trip soon just to make a shopping list (and maybe to beg them to open a store closer to my house!).

  3. Thank you so much for making this list!! I’m about to start the THM life style and found your blog from Pinterest! Very excited to start and thank you for the awesome resources. 🙂

    1. I’m so glad you’re finding this helpful! I’ve LOVED being a THMer and I hope it goes as well for you as it has for me! Thanks for the kind words. 🙂

  4. I’m just curious. I was looking at the ingredients on the Enlightened Ice Cream Bars. They have cane sugar mid way down, so how can they be on plan. I thought all sugar was a no-no.

    1. Typically it is, but Pearl Barrett (the author of THM) approved these in the Facebook groups. They are very low-carb and there is very little sugar in them, so I think it falls into the “personal choice” category. 🙂

  5. Hi! What an encouragement to find your blog! This is Just what I needed to help as I’m a busy homeschool mama also who is trying to get back into the THM groove! Thank you for the meal plans and shopping list! I’m so excited to get going again. Bless you! 🙂

  6. Hi,
I’m thinking about joining the THM club. I do have the 2 books and I find your site is very helpful. Thanks for sharing. So far it’s very overwhelming, but I’ll get there. The one question I have is, I don’t like sugar alcohols and they recommend them a lot on the THM plan. Do you have any personal favorite replacements?

    1. Hi Lanette! Ok, so first I have to ask if you’ve tried the THM brand sweeteners. Or Swerve. Both, in my opinion, taste amazing and are far better than what I find at the store. I have links to the brand I use at workingathomeschool.com/resources. I also use pure stevia extract, but that took some getting used to.

    1. I don’t! But I’ll make one for you if you want one! I’ve had a few requests for Walmart but I didn’t know if it would be useful to anyone but me! 🙂
