The EASIEST Protein Source

It's time for me to share my magic bullet for an easy THM protein source that helps me get enough protein in my day. 😍

I was talking to a potential client last week (she's registered for my THM Bootcamp next month!) who shared that one of her biggest struggles is getting enough protein.

I had explained THM's guideline of 25-30 grams of protein four times per day, and she said she guessed she maybe got 25-30 grams of protein in her entire DAY.

Now, I know we'll get her straightened out with LOTS of simple, doable protein ideas in Bootcamp, but I also gave her a quick tip on our quick call – THM's Essential Amino Acids.

I’m a big fan of quick and easy, and ESSENTIAL (THM's Essential Amino Acid powder, or EAAs) is one of my favorite little hacks.

What is Essential?

It’s a carefully balanced mix of all nine essential amino acids that delivers what your body would get from 90 grams of protein — without sitting down to a huge plate of food. 💪 Each serving packs a powerful 3-gram hit of leucine (the ultimate muscle-building amino acid) and absorbs fast so your muscles get what they need right when they need it. According to THM, that means faster recovery, better energy, and way less muscle loss.

How do I use it?

I grab ESSENTIAL when I need protein in a hurry — right after a workout, on those “snack for lunch” days, “girl dinner” nights, or when I just don’t feel like chewing through a big hunk of meat. It’s gentle on digestion, which makes it one of the super easy THM protein sources out there. Just stir it into a drink, sip or chug, and you’re done. Simple, effective, and no excuses for skipping your protein.

It's great as a lean protein source for an E meal, too!

My favorite drinks to mix it in:

The taste of these EAAs are not the greatest, but they are FAR better than other brands I've tried. Here are my favorite ways to drink it:

  1. Mixed into a glass of Tropicana Zero Sugar Fruit Punch (please make sure you only get the Tropicana – Minute Maid and others are not on plan).
  2. Mixed into about 4-6 ounces of home-fermented kefir with an extra pinch of stevia
  3. Mixed into fruit-flavored tea with a pinch of stevia
  4. Blended into an on-plan smoothie or shake
  5. Shaken into a bottle of Bai tea (some flavors are better than others! I like this one)
  6. In water with THM Hydrates (I like Cherry Baobab)

    I do not recommend adding it to coffee – it has a citrusy flavor so they don't combine well.

Tips for Better Taste

I let mine sit for about 30 minutes – which is perfect for post-workout or when I'm on the run. I'll stir a scant tablespoon into my drink of choice, leave it on the counter to fully dissolve, and come back and drink it. Or I stir it into a to-go cup and wait for it to fully dissolve before drinking it on the go.
