Serving Trim Healthy Mama to Guests – Amazing Recipes for Having People Over!
With all of these kids, homeschool, and work, it’s hard to have company over very often, but when we do, I love it! I really enjoy fellowship with friends and family, on the rare occasion that we are able to coordinate our schedules!
When I started Trim Healthy Mama in 2013, I reverted back to my regular stand-by meals for company – gluten-free lasagna, casseroles, sugary desserts, etc. After I got to my goal weight, I started getting more questions about what we ate and why – so I realized that having people over for dinner would be an excellent opportunity to share my new THM skills and explain what we love about eating Trim Healthy Mama style! The idea here is to share NORMAL foods, that anyone will enjoy. These dishes taste so good that often no one can tell that these recipes are healthy and conducive to weight loss! I don’t worry too much about mixing fuels if I’m serving a nice dinner – I can always skip an E appetizer if I’m having an S dinner, for example. But for simplicity’s sake the recipes below are all S recipes.
So, by category, here are a few of my favorite dishes to serve to guests:
Appetizers:
Coney Island Party Dip from Mrs. Criddle’s Kitchen
Thai Roasted Cauliflower with Spicy Peanut Dipping Sauce from AllDayIDreamAboutFood
Parmesan-Stuffed Tomatoes from A Home with Purpose
Supreme Pizza Party Dip from Briana Thomas
A veggie tray or meat and cheese tray is always a big hit, too!
Main Dishes:
Steak, Alton Brown Style (I’ve written about this before, because it’s our favorite!)
Green Chile Chicken from Pioneer Woman (skip the rice, beans, and tortillas to keep this an S)
Grilled Cheesy Buffalo Chicken
Stuffed Chile Rellenos Casserole from Counting All Joy
Healthy Chicken A La King from Grassfed Mama
I’ve also served fajitas (no tortillas) with sour cream, cheese, and enchiladas. Taco night is a great option for company, too!
Side Dishes:
Beautiful Roasted Vegetables from Pioneer Woman
THIS CAESAR SALAD RECIPE (sorry for yelling, but it’s my all-time favorite – SO delicious and impressive! Just skip the croutons to keep it a healthy S)
Caprese Salad (again, super easy and impressive)
Desserts:
Mini Cheesecakes from Briana Thomas
Peanut Butter Fudge Cake from A Home with Purpose
and probably one of my all-time favorite sugar-free, grain-free desserts, Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookies from AllDayIDreamAboutFood
There are some of my favorites for inspiration! Don’t forget, there are TONS of amazing recipes that would work for a crowd (or company) in the Trim Healthy Mama book! My two favorites in the book are Pearl’s Chili and the Basic Cheesecake. The cheesecake in particular is quick, easy, and delicious – I definitely recommend it!
If you have a favorite Trim Healthy Mama recipe to serve to guests, please share it in the comments!
P.S. – Since I wrote this post, I bought an Instant Pot. It’s become one of my all-time favorite kitchen tools, and it’s especially useful when guests come over – it allows me to have quite a bit less hands-on time in the kitchen! You can check out a bunch of company-friendly healthy (THM) recipes here: 20 Instant Pot Recipes.

Have I told you I love you!!! Bookmarking this !!!! Thank you thank you thank you from New Zealand xxx
Oh my gosh, what a great assortment of goodies! I would love to come over for dinner. Thank you for including my grilled cheesy Buffalo chicken.
When I looked up the skillet cookie recipe it calls for Yacon syrup. Is that on-plan? Do you use that or sub something in it’s place?
I substitute blackstrap molasses. The author changed the recipe, but it used to say molasses OR Yacon syrup. Sorry about that!
